What is a tournament overlay?
A tournament overlay is when the contributions of players registered for a tournament are less than the guaranteed prize pool. Actually, the overlay is the difference between the two amounts. In case of such a situation, the tournament overlay will be evenly distributed among all tournament participants. The overlay per person is deducted from the Fish Buffet Points that are awarded when you buy a ticket to the tournament.
A simple example:
1) Tournament fee = $2 (200 FP is credited to the player's account), overlay per person = $1
=> $1 is deducted from $2 (= $1)
=> Only 100 FP will be credited to the player's account.
2) Tournament fee = $1 (entitles you to 100 FP), overlay per person = $1
=> $1 is deducted from $1 (= 0)
=> Unfortunately, in this situation the player will not receive Fish Buffet points
3) Tournament fee = $0.5 (buying a ticket gives 50FP), overlay per person = $1
=> $1 is deducted from $0.5 (overlay is negative: -$0.5, which equals -50 FP)
=> And in this situation, the player will not get FP points either. The good news is that the missing 50 FP will not be deducted from the account either!
